"The Hunt of the Unicorn", or the Unicorn Tapestries, is one of the most famous and spectacular but enigmatic survivors of the late Middle Ages. This series of seven tapestries now in The Cloisters in New York was possibly made – or at least designed – in Paris at the turn of the sixteenth century.

A 22 piece Native American inspired collection by artist Winnifred Stryker (1913 -1992), who created imaginative wall hangings in her Sedona/Page Springs studio, a refurbished one room school built by her father in 1921.
Her striking wall hangings, composed of driftwood, rusted metal, weathered fabrics, and pebbles-with natural-faces, are completely free of the artsy-crafts stereotypes. They reflect instead her dozen childhood years on the Hopi Reservation where her father was a missionary, and her lifelong interest in Indian legends, languages, and ritual.

Cornelis Massys “The Arrival of the Holy Family in Bethelem” FRAMED PRINT
Cornelis Massijs (alternative spellings of family name: Massys, Matsijs, Matsys, Messijs, Messys, Metsys) (1508, Antwerp – c. 1556, unknown),was a Flemish Renaissance painter, draughtsman and engraver, mainly known for his landscapes and, to a lesser extent, genre scenes and portraits. He is regarded as an important figure in the transition from the fantastic landscapes of Joachim Patinir to the 'pure landscapes' of later Netherlandish landscape painting.

Pieter Bruegel (also Brueghel) the Elder; c. 1525–1530 – 9 September 1569) was the most significant artist of Dutch and Flemish Renaissance painting, a painter and printmaker from Brabant, known for his landscapes and peasant scenes (so-called genre painting); he was a pioneer in making both types of subject the focus in large paintings.

Paul Geissler, German/American (1881 - 1965)
Born June 25, 1881, Erfurt, Studies drawing under the painter Sondermann. Attends the Arts and Craft School in Erfurt for 4 years. Studies at the Grand-Ducal School of Arts in Weimar, Germany, under Max Thedy, 1903. His most productive years are 1920-30. Travels to USA, 1928. In USA, executes beautiful etchings of Independence Hall and the Betsy Ross House in Philadelphia as well as scenes of Yale and Princeton. Appointed professor in Germany, 1943. Several universities offer him a post, but he remains independent. Chairman of the Werdenfelser Kunstlerbund, association of artists in the Garmisch, Germany, area. Died May 30, 1965.

“Freiburg” Framed Aquatint by Luigi Kasimir
Luigi Kasimir needs no introduction; his etchings have been popular in this country for over 40 years, ever since he came to the U.S. to do a series of etchings of the famous sights, from the New York skyscrapers to the imposing scenery of Yosemite Valley.
Luigi Kasimir was born in 1881 in the town of Pettau, at that time a part of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. He attended the Vienna Academy of Art which was to be of twofold importance to him: first he studied under William Unger, who gave Kasimir his first introduction to the technique of the colored etching. Luigi died in 1962 in Grinzing, a suburb of Vienna.

My life hasn't changed much since I was four years old, when I donned a pith helmet and wielded a huge paintbrush to paint murals inside my family's garage doors. Later, still brandishing a paintbrush of a fine arts education at Scripps College in California, and the Ecole de Beaux Arts in Geneva, Switzerland, but now helmeted for world adventures, I began to travel and write stories for U.S. and British publications. I married and produced two patient children, divorced and remarried, then divorced again just for good measure. Over the years, I swatted black flies in New Zealand, ate yak eyeballs in Tibet, rode crowded buses in Jamaica, distributed art supplies and taught children in Bhutan, hunted tiger with a camera in Sumatra (I didn't find one but ran from a lot of monkeys), rode an elephant in an Indian jungle and tried to save puppies from being eaten in the Cook Islands. Oh, yes, how could I forget? I lived in a centipede castle on a remote island in Greece.

Tighe O’Donoghue Untitled SIGNED ETCHING – “Seascape at Night” 1985
Born in New York in 1942 Tighe O’Donoghue is an artist with strong Irish roots – as his biography says he’s “head of the family known as the O’Donoghues of Ross and is recognised as the hereditary Chief of Loch Lein”.O’Donoghue’s work has been described as ‘magical realist. ’Tighe O’Donoghue’s etchings employ aquatint techniques with an effortless skill and precision that gives his prints a richness of colour and form that’s very much his own.
